Warrick Dunn Charities Partners with Aaron’s to surprise Habitat partner family

Port Monmouth, NJ (September 02, 2015) --- Warrick Dunn Charities (WDC) partnered with Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County and Aaron’s Inc. to surprise Hurricane Sandy victim and grandmother, Ana Henn with necessities for a new start in life.

Ana lost her home to Hurricane Sandy in October 2012; it was deemed unsafe and unlivable. This was a tragic blow after losing her husband earlier in the year.

Ana Henn received the ultimate surprise on Wednesday, as she walked into a re-established life with her grandchild in tow. Warrick Dunn Charities and volunteers spent days filling the Henn home, a Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County rebuild.

Program partner, Aaron’s, Inc provided furniture for the Henn family. In addition, Ana Henn also received $5,000 as home reconstruction assistance, a benefit of WDC’s Homes for the Holidays program. Fully stocking and furnishing the home was also made possible thanks to donor and friends of Warrick Dunn Charities.

The Homes for the Holidays (HFTH) program founded in 1997 by Warrick Dunn, former National Football League (NFL) all-pro running back and philanthropist supports single parents that are first-time homebuyers. The program has served 144 single parents and over 380 dependents in 14 markets across the country.

Homes for the Holidays was created in honor of Dunn’s late mother, Betty Smothers, a Baton Rouge police officer who was killed during an after-hours security shift, in pursuit of her dream of homeownership.

“This is the moment that we have been hoping to celebrate for years...a Hurricane Sandy Survivor. That is what Ana Henn is to us. She has overcome extremely tough situations and never gave up. We are privileged to assist her with this new beginning. Thanks to great partners like Aaron’s Inc. and our Habitat for Humanity family; together, we were able to provide a comfortable home, beyond tragedy, for the Henn family,” said Warrick Dunn, Founder of Warrick Dunn Charities.

Despite her misfortunes, Ana generates enthusiasm and has been a wonderful partner for Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County.
