Spotlight Quanasia

Quanasia came to Habitat for Humanity in August of 2015 as an AmeriCorps VISTA Member to work on the continued development of our ReStore in Freehold.  Quanasia is a lifelong resident of Monmouth County, where she resides with her 2 beautiful daughters.    Quanasia initially committed a year of service to HFHMC, which turned out to be extended when she took a brief leave to welcome her second baby girl. After that blessing, she came back to finish the year strong by continuing to help the ReStore add more volunteers, resources and programs to their roster.

Before becoming an AmeriCorps volunteer, Quanasia assisted in the management of another nonprofit agency that assisted residents with special needs.  She is an alumnus of both Brookdale Community College and Monmouth University, where she received her A.A and B.A. in Communication respectively.  She also returned to Brookdale in 2011 to complete a certificate in nonprofit management.

The opportunity to serve with Habitat for Humanity is a chance to give back to Quanasia.  Her family was selected to receive a new Habitat home that was completed in 2007.  She sees this as a chance to contribute to the organization that gave so much to her family.  Quanasia will finish her term here in October of 2016.
